Review: The Fisrt Open Studio, opened on 19 November 1970 in Rudolf Sikora´s house,
courtyard and garden on Tehelna Street 32 in Bratislava, Slovakia, was the first
deliberate protest against the interventions of power in the visual arts. Participants
of this project were artist like R. Sikora, V. Cigler, M. Dobeš, A. Mlynarčík,
J. Želibská, I. Štěpán, J. Koller and also representants from the younger
generation of Slovak artists like V. Kordoš, M. Mudroch, O. Laubert and others.
Together nineteen artists also shaped unofficial art in the following years.
