Gyula Kristó's scholarly book, written on the basis of a wide range of sources and specialized literature, describes the century which the Hungarians spent on the steppes of Southern Russia and at the end of which they conquered their present homeland. The book deals with historical, linguistic and archeological issues. It will be of particular interest to Turkologists, Byzantine scholars, Slavists, and scholars of Hungarian studies.
