Szabó Sarolta: Kísérleti lakótelep
 

      Munkáim nagyrészt szöveg és kép kapcsolatára épülnek, bár minden esetben a vizualitás az elsödleges és a meghatározó. A számomra lényeges történetek elmesélésekor, a legfontosabb az új képi formanyelvi lehetöségek kiaknázása.
     Az elmúlt két évben sorozataimban egyre lényegesebb elemmé válik témáim feltárásának szociológiai, társadalmi megközelítése.
     Legújabb munkám a Kísérleti lakótelep.
     Budapesten – és Magyarország több városában - okoz problémát a lakótelepeken élö emberek elszigetelödése, elmagányosodása, annak ellenére, hogy ezrek élnek szinte karnyújtásnyira egymástól. A kiállítási anyag ezeknek az embereknek az életébe enged bepillantást a föszereplö, egy lakótelepi nö szemszögéböl. A kisfilmes és a digitális kamera használata a történetben élö nö szituációjából, helyzetéböl adódott. A fiktív szereplö kapcsolatteremtésre képtelen, de figyeli a körülötte élöket, dokumentálja képben, írásban és hangfelvételben a találkozásokat.
     Ezek a találkozások gyorsak, eseménytelenek és ritkák, így sietve kell(ene) cselekednie, találkozásainak idötartamát pedig a dokumentáció segítségével igyekszik térben és idöben kitágítani, lassan végképp elszakadva a „valóságtól”.
     A föszereplö kutatásainak, „betöréseinek” bemutatása mellett fontos szerepet kapnak a lakótelepek tipikus helyszínei: a játszóterek, elhagyott parkok és focipályák, az épületek félhomályos zugai, és a telep szellemszerü alakjainak felbukkanása.
     A Kísérleti lakótelep sorozat színes fotográfiák és számítógépes grafikák kombinációjával épül fel. A fotók részletei néha finoman manipuláltak. Ezzel párhuzamba állítható a telepek területeinek eröteljes beavatkozásokkal átalakított környezete, a ledózerolt telkek, a több száz méteres házsorok amelyek a   lakótelepek mesterséges környezetével „harmonizálva” alkotják több millió ember „természetes” élöhelyét.

Experimental Housing Estate by Szabó Sarolta
 

      My works are mostly based upon the combination of texts and pictures, although, visual aspects are of immense relevance and decisive. When telling stories important for me, the primary objective is to make the most of the picture model language in photography.
     Over the last two years making a sociological as well as social approach to the essence of the topics chosen by me has become more and more important in my series.
     My latest work is the Experimental Housing Estate.
     The isolated and lonely way of life people living in housing estates lead is constantly causing problems not only in the capital city, Budapesten, but also in several other towns across the country despite the fact that thousands are living only at a stone’s throw from each other. The exhibition grants us a glimpse into the lives of these folks through the viewpoint taken by the main character, a woman living in one of these estates. The usage of the 35mm and the digital camera was the immediate result of the situation the woman starring in the story copes with. Unable to make human relationships herself, though, this imaginary individual keeps watching those surrounding her, documenting these contacts through audio, visual as well as written materials.
    These encounters being momentary, uneventful and rare, she hast to act quick meanwhile trying to expand the duration of her encounters in space and time by the means of these documentaries, moving away from reality little by little.
Besides introducing the investigations and break-ins performed by the main character, the typical scenes of the housing estates such as a playground, abandoned parks and football pitches, the semi-dark nooks and crannies of the buildings and the ghost-like figures also play an important part.
     The Experimental Housing Estate series consists of the combination of colored photographs and computer-made graphics. Certain details in the photos are gently manipulated. Compared to this can be the environments of the estate areas, reconstructed via energetic interference, destroyed building plots, several hundred meter long terraces serving in harmony with the artificial environments of the housing estates as the natural habitat of millions of people.
