Péter Szarka: Play_Pause
Opening by Mesi Mucsi, on 13 May 2015, 18:00
The exhibition will be open till June 11, 2015

In the previous half year I have been working on a series which
has the working title 'Freedom Cut'. It contains multilayered
graphical objects which were made to be patterns on the walls of
prison cells, rubber rooms, and interrogation rooms. The layers
rest on each other like a sgraffito. They include insulators and
other constructional waste and form a relief-like structure. The
patterns which can be seen on them don't follow the iconography
of tipical prison drawings but use a completely contemporary
language. It lends the work a more science fictional character
that these fictitious drawings are cut out of the also
fictitious walls of the cell or rubber room, so we can discover
the selection method of an imagined or future museologist.
