Triple P Healthcare selected SOLID Server as the database engine to power its TRACE and ADT systems that help doctors and nurses plan and execute their daily work.

The TRACE and ADT Systems

In order to optimise hospital communication, Triple P has developed the TReatment And Care Environment (TRACE). This application helps nurses and doctors plan and execute their daily work while supporting them with all information needed. Result reporting from the laboratory and orders placed with the pharmacy are based on the HL7 standard. Bedside terminals allow the information to be accessed right where it is needed.

A new Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) system forms the kernel of all patient data. This application gathers all administrative data needed. It also communicates with the reservation system in order to manage the bed capacity in an optimal way.

The first customer using the combination of TRACE, ADT, and SOLID Server is the 500-bed hospital Maria Middelares located in Gent, Belgium. The database has about 100 users. Its size is estimated at 7 GB divided over 400 tables. TRACE and ADT run on a Windows NT application server and the database operates on a SOLID Server for SUN Solaris.
