May 13, 1998 SOLID JOINS LINUX INTERNATIONAL Linux International is a global non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the development and use of Linux and the products available for it. Solid Information Technology (http://www.solidtech.com/) has joined Linux International's Corporate Membership Program, which provides funding for the organization to actively promote the work of Linux developers and activists at major events. "I am very pleased that Solid decided to join Linux International. As a full-featured relational database with rigorous adhesion to standards, Solid leads the field as a low-cost, powerful solution to both general database needs and web-based databases," said Jon "maddog" Hall, Executive Director of Linux International. "In addition, their willingness to make a functional version of their SOLID Desktop database available for free on Linux is an example of their support of the Linux community." Solid has a strong commitment to Linux. SOLID Server was first ported on to the platform in 1994, and there are now more than 80,000 users of SOLID Server for Linux around the world. Since March 1997, Solid has been offering its SOLID Desktop for Linux license free of charge to Linux developers. In December 1997, Linux Journals readers voted SOLID Server as the Readers Choice. "Solid highly appreciates the work that Linux International does in acting as a bridge between the dedicated community of Linux developers and the general world of commerce and industry. Solid is absolutely committed to supporting the continued growth of the Linux phenomenon and is delighted to be working with many of the World's leading organizations that are already deploying Linux in commercial and technical environments," says Mr. Mark Selby, President of Solid Information Technology. "We are looking forward to contributing to this effort as a Corporate Member." SOLID Server is a trademark and the Solid logo is a registered trademark of Solid Information Technology Ltd.
