As the guest of C3 in 1997, Etoy installed a server hosting the new, 4.0 version of etoy tanksystem and the net part of their new product line "protected by etoy". Protected by etoy is a larger project that responds to the discourse about privacy issues of data transmission on the net, while it allows etoy to further develop its profile. This is of crucial importance for them since the image becomes the product itself in media-based environments. Etoy is well aware of this. "Reality design," i.e., careful design of their image, is in the forefront of their activities. Etoy's stay in Budapest was concluded with a spectacular show based on active perception. During their live action in the exhibition space the public was endowed with an active role.
