SOLID DEVELOPMENT TOOLS

This page describes the SOLID development tools that are available to complement your SOLID Server or SOLID Web Engine configuration. These include the SOLID JDBC Driver, SOLID ODBC Driver, SOLID Light Client, SOLID Manuals, SOLID Tools, and SOLID Development packages. You can download these packages free of charge and without registering. However, if you first wish to download the free evaluation version of SOLID Server or SOLID Web Engine, please register and follow the instructions.

To download any of the packages described on this page, start with the Development Configurations section; it tells you which packages you need for your specific development task. The Packages section describes the contents of each package. Then continue to the Download section, which has links to the different packages on our ftp sites.

DEVELOPMENT CONFIGURATIONS

ODBC Configuration

If you develop your application with a tool that accesses the database through ODBC on Windows platforms, you need the following:

1.SOLID Server for the operating system of your server
2.SOLID ODBC Driver for the operating system of your client
3.SOLID Manuals in HLP or HTML format

SQL API Configuration

If you develop your application using the ODBC API directly with C (or any programming tool that conforms to the C function call convention), you need the following:

1.SOLID Server for the operating system of your server
2.SOLID Development package for the operating system of your client

Light Client Configuration

If you develop small-footprint applications using C (or any tool that conforms to the C function call convention), you need the following:

1.SOLID Server release 02.20.0027 for the operating system of your server
2.SOLID Light Client package for the operating system of your client

JDBC Configuration

For developing your application with a Java tool that accesses the database using
JDBC, you need the following:

1.SOLID release 02.20.0027 or newer for the operating system of your server
2.SOLID JDBC Driver package for your Java client operating system
3.Java Virtual Machine environment supporting JDK 1.1
4.A SOLID License with the JDBC Extension

Web Engine Configuration

If you develop web applications you need to download SOLID Web Engine. The Web Engine package contains the following:

1.SOLID Web Engine for the operating system of your server
2.SOLID Manuals in HTML format
3.SOLID SQL API headers and libraries
4.CGI Program examples

In addition to the above you may also want to download the following:

1.SOLID JDBC Driver package for your Java client operating system
2.SOLID ODBC Driver for Windows clients accessing SOLID Web Engine directly

Free LINUX Configuration

The Free SOLID Desktop 2.2 version can be found at sites offering Free
SOLID for Linux.

PACKAGES

This section describes the contents of each SOLID development tool package.

SOLID Development Package

These packages contain files for database client application development using C or any other tool that conforms to the C function call convention:

• SQL API library
• SQL API header files
• SQL API sample programs
• SOLID Programmer's Guide and Reference (Windows Help file format or HTML in SOLID Development Package for Linux)

SOLID Tools Package

These packages contain tools for exporting and importing data:

• SOLID Data Dictionary List, generates data definition statements from a SOLID database in SQL
• SOLID Export, exports data from a SOLID database
• SOLID Speedloader, imports data into a SOLID database
• Teletype versions of SOLID Remote Control and SOLID SQL Editor in 32-bit Windows packages

These packages include the 16-bit or 32-bit ODBC Drivers for Windows platforms. Download here.

SOLID JDBC Driver Package

SOLID Light Client Package

SOLID Manuals Package

Manuals are available in Windows Help and HTML format. The package includes:

• SOLID Technical Description
• SOLID Administrator's Guide
• SOLID Programmer's Guide and Reference

NOTE! SOLID Technical Description and SOLID Administrator's Guide are included in the SOLID Web Engine and SOLID Server packages. SOLID Programmer's Guide and Reference is included in the Development Package.
