A Hogyanállössze a kép?? egy beszélgetéssorozat címe, melyet a Műcsarnok "Menesi termében" szeptember folyamán bemutatásra kerülő "Szerviz" projekt keretében szerveznek a Manapság című lap munkatársai. Az Angel Judit kurátori koncepciója nyomán létrehozott "Szerviz" azt a célt tűzte maga elé, hogy kortárs művészek nyújtsanak különféle szolgáltatásokat az intézmény szeptemberi kiállításait látogató nézők számára. Ezen belül a mi szolgáltatásunk rendkívűl egyszerű: a hét meghatározott napjain - előreláthatólag minden szerdán -, koradélután leülünk beszélgetni, s e beszélgetésekbe bárki bármikor bekapcsolódhat.

A Hogyanállösszea kép?? kiindulópontja az Okakura Kakuzo Teakönyvében található leírás volt, ahol a japán teázási szokások kapcsán, a teaszobákról, teakunyhókról (szukija) a következőket olvashatjuk: "a szukija eredeti írásjele azt jelentette, hogy "a képzelet tere". Később a különféle teamesterek más, más kínai betűkkel helyettesítették ezt a jelet - aszerint, hogy miként képzelték el "a" teaszobát - és a szukija ma már az "üresség terét", vagy az "asszimetria terét" is jelentheti. A képzelet tere annyiban lehet, amennyiben voltaképp nem egyéb, mint valamely költői ihletnek otthont adó, alkalmi építmény. Az üresség tere viszont annyiban lehet, amennyiben teljesen dísztelen, kivéve azokat a tárgyakat, amelyeket valamely pillanatnyi esztétikai igény kielégítése végett helyeztek el benne. Végül annyiban lehet az asszimetria tere, amennyiben a Tökéletlen tiszteletének szentelt hely, ahol tudatosan hagynak ezt-azt befejezetlenül, hogy a képzelet kedvére játszódhassék kiegészítésükkel."

How is the picture put together? is the title of a series of talks, organized by the staff of the Manapság / Nowadays newspaper within the “Szervíz / Service” project, a series that is to be presented during September in the “Menesi Hall” at Műcsarnok / Kunsthalle in Budapest. The exhibition “Szervíz / Service”, based on Judit Angel’s curatorial concept, set as its target the offering of various services by contemporary artists to the visitors of the exhibitions of this institution during September. In connection with this, our service is extremely simple: on a certain day of the week - presumably early afternoon on Wednesdays - we sit down and talk, giving the opportunity to anyone present to take part in the discussions.

The starting point of How is the picture put together? had been the description available in  Okakura Kakuzo’s Tea Book,  where, related to the custom of Japanese tea drinking, we can read the following about the tea rooms, the tea lodge (szukija): “the original sign of ‘szukija’ meant ‘the space of the imagination’. Later, several tea ceremony masters replaced it with other Chinese characters – according to the way they imagined ‘the’ tea room – and nowadays, ‘szukija’ can actually signify even the ‘space of the emptiness’ or ‘the space of asymmetry’.  It can signify the space of imagination inasmuch as it is actually nothing more than an occasional architecture, sheltering some poetic inspiration. But it can be the space of emptiness at the degree that, inasmuch as it is entirely unadorned, except those things, that had been placed in it in order to satisfy some momentary esthetic requirement. Finally, it can be the space of asymmetry at the extent that, it is a place dedicated to the veneration of the Imperfection, where things are let unfinished deliberately, so that imagination can freely play by completing them.”
